Festival season is no time to skip your skincare and makeup application regimen. Incorporate these tips and tricks into your beauty routine before your trip to Lollapalooza.

Pre-Festival
With the excitement of going to see your favorite music artists, something as simple as sun protection is likely to be forgotten. However, being in the harsh sun all day long can take a toll on your skin. Remember to apply sunscreen before applying your makeup, because the damage of bad sunburn can last far beyond the last festival performance (redness! wrinkles! age spots!). Between the heat, sweat, and predicted thunderstorms at Lollapalooza this year, priming and setting makeup is essential in order to keep makeup in its place. Use a primer for the face and eyelids, and set everything using with a finishing spray like Urban Decay All Nighter Long Lasting Makeup Setting Spray ($32) to virtually water-proof your makeup.

During The Festival
Between potential rain and inevitable sweat, waterproof makeup is your best friend at any music festival. Waterproof eye products are abundant, so avoid those raccoon eyes with the no-budge mascara, eyeliner, and eyeshadow of your choice. There are even waterproof foundations, bronzers, and concealers to keep your face makeup in place.

Post-Festival
Being out in Grant Park all day with dirt and dust floating everywhere calls for extra special skincare. Washing the face alone may not be enough to rid the skin of sweat and dirt buildup from the festival. Find a face mask that contains activated charcoal and feel the difference as the charcoal draws out dirt, bacteria, and other pore-clogging particles. Using products containing aloe vera, can help repair skin from prolonged sun exposure. Additionally, when the festival is over and it’s time to get back to your everyday lifestyle, concealer under the eyes will help erase signs of post-festival exhaustion.
